Lambert Steffel, 94, of David City, formerly of Schuyler, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at the Butler County Health Care Center.
Memorials can be made in care of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Schuyler, with Fr. Gerry Gonderinger officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday at Svoboda Funeral Home at 905 A Street Schuyler, from 5 until 7 p.m. with a parish rosary recited at 7 p.m. An additional viewing will be held Friday from 9:30 until 10:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Schuyler Cemetery with lunch following in the St. Augustine Social Center. Svoboda Funeral Home is handling arrangements for the family.
Lambert Steffel was born in Schuyler on November 27, 1927 to Emil and Mary (Dostal) Steffel. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1944 and continued with his father working on the family farm. On August 24, 1949 married Anna Dostal in Colorado and 3 sons were born to this union.
Lambert dedicated his entire life to the farming lifestyle and farmed right up until his retirement. He was very proud of his Czech heritage and could regularly be found listening or dancing to his favorite Czech songs. In his free time, Lambert enjoyed taking road trips, whether around the area to check crops or with his wife Anna and her brother and sister-in-law across the country.
He is survived by his sons: Larry (Judy) Steffel of Evergreen, Colorado, Ray (Sue) Steffel of Beaver Lake, Nebraska, and Dale Steffel of Howells; friend Elaine Stoupa; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren as well as three nieces.
Lambert is preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna in 1991, brothers Amos and Longin Steffel and sisters Helen Maly and Adella Hamsa.
