Lambert Horejsi was born the youngest of seven children in Wilson, Nebraska on July 1, 1917 to James and Rose (Zoubek) Horejsi. He attended rural school and farmed with his parents. On November 7, 1940 he married Rose C. Sup of Clarkson, Nebraska. He attended barber college in Lincoln, Nebraska soon afterward and began a career in barbering. During the war, Lambert spent time in the army stateside in Georgia and Maryland. After leaving the army he began a barbering career in Schuyler. His shop was a Schuyler fixture for more than 60 years until he finally retired in 2000. Lambert was active in many facets of Schuyler life. He was a member St. Mary's Catholic Church, the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and the Last Man's Club. He served on the Schuyler City Council and helped with Cub Scouting in the early years. He enjoyed many hobbies such as painting, wood working, cards, golf and league bowling. Lambert is survived by his three sons; David and his wife Donna of Hamburg, Iowa; Lawrence and his wife Sharman of Surprise, Arizona; Thomas and his wife Kathy of Lincoln, Nebraska. He had eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose C. Horejsi, who died in 1996, as well as his brothers, Longin Horejsi of Schuyler, Edward Horejsi of Fremont and sisters Mary Muliha of Leigh; Rose Navrkal and Alice Clayton of Columbus and Nettie Bahns of Modesto, CA. The family suggests memorials to the Schuyler Senior Center.
