Kaye was born on June 4, 1922 to Jesse Glen and Jessie Cecil Duncan in David City. In 1946, she married the love of her life, Robert D. Larson. She graduated from UNL with a teaching certificate and taught school in David City from 1942-1946, however, Kaye spent most of her life as a homemaker and volunteer.
Kaye volunteered for the Red Cross for many years. She was a very active member of the Officers Wives’ Club, where she led a variety of volunteer activities for families throughout her life as a military spouse. Upon her return to David City, Kaye volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and as a story hour reader at the library. She also served several terms on the David City Public School Board as well.
Kaye was a member of several formal organizations throughout her life, such as P.E.O.; DAR and OWLS Club just to name a few. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several different clubs. Most of all, Kaye treasured friendships that came with all those interests. Community was always very important to Kaye. Above all though, Kaye was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was always in her heart and in her deeds. She was the rock and foundation for her entire family. Kaye supported her family in every way imaginable. She attended numerous ballgames, recitals, parent-teacher conferences, graduations and several other activities. She was there for all of her family, in good times and bad.
Kaye had a very strong faith that guided her through life. This abiding faith helped her endure several tragedies. Through them all, she pushed on and made certain that the family did as well. Although stubborn and impatient at time, Kaye was a “giver” and always thought of others first. She was always the first one at someone’s door with a casserole and a kind heart when trouble struck.
Kaye is survived by her son Richard (Marge) Larson of Norfolk; a daughter Roberta Larson of David City; grandchildren Matthew Bartlett of Hazlehurst, GA; Michael (Melissa, Mackenzie, and Micah) Bartlett of Hazlehurst, GA; and Susan, David and Hope Smith of David City. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, husband Bob, daughter Debbie and many many dear friends. She leaves us all with saddened hearts and a void that cannot be filled, yet we are grateful that she is finally at peace and at home.
The family would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at David Place for their 3 years of caring and love. You all were Kaye’s second family and made her last days on earth happy and full.
