Joseph L. Sabata, 68, of David City died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Butler County Health Care Center in David City.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10:30am in St. Luke's United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Schutt officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
The family requests IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorials be given to Hruska Memorial Public Library.
Joseph L. Sabata was born on February 7, 1943 to James and Lillian(Slegl)Sabata at David City, Nebraska. He helped take over farm duties at the age of 13 and farmed until his death.
He married Marcia Ball on August 10, 1962 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. To his union, four children were born. They have lived in the Butler County area all of their married lives.
Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking trips to Colorado and Wyoming. He loved to travel, going as far as Alaska but he especially enjoyed staying in the state of Nebraska, seeing all the sights his home state had to offer.
He enjoyed Czech music, listening every Sunday to the Big Joe Polka Show, camping, trapshooting, drove stockcar races and was known as an arm wrestling champ of the area.
Joe is survived by his wife, Marcia, children: Joe Sabata of David City, Karen(Randy)Frendrich of Abie, Tracy(John)Hein and Jim Sabata both of David City. Five Grandchildren: Miranda and Ashley Fendrich, Cody Sabata, Wiley and Shelby Hein.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Jim Sabata.
