Joseph Hejhal was born February 21, 1929 in Colfax County on the family farm south of Howells to Joseph and Katherine (Bocian) Hejhal. He attended Colfax County rural school. Joe worked in Minnesota and North Dakota installing telephone and power lines. He returned to the family farm in the 1980’s and remained there the rest of his life. He enjoyed fishing, and playing poker, but his greatest joy was bottle-feeding his calves and watching them grow.
Joe is survived by five of his eleven siblings: Elmer Hejhal of Fremont, Elsie (Eugene) Alexander of Omaha, Mary (Adolph) Jindra, Katherine (Lawrence) Bayer, Alice Krenk, all of Schuyler, sisters-in-law: Diana Hejhal and Betty Hejhal, many nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Katherine Hejhal, twin brother James, brothers John and Gene and infant brother Donald; sisters Tillie Krutz and Dorraine Hejhal and brothers-in-law Lyle Krutz and Fred Krenk.
