John L. Wolff, 91, of Howells, passed away Wednesday August 15, 2012 in Dodge. John was born October 20, 1920 to Theodore and Elizabeth (Bose) Wolff in Stuart, Nebraska. He attended S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic School. John married Pauline Schlautman on April 18, 1944 at St. Henry's Catholic Church north of Howells. John worked at Pimpers, farmed, did custom baling, worked at Farmer's Union Co-OP, Pekarek Farm Supply and was a courier for Alegent Health. John was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, and the Square Dance Club. He loved carpentry, playing the harmonica, gardening, and was known for his Angel Food cake. He enjoyed his Wednesday Night Hamburger Club, and especially his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Pauline in 2003, brothers and sister-in-law Ted and Anne Wolff, Joe and Frances Wolff, sisters and brothers-in-law Elizabeth and Herman Ridder and Laura and Joe Ridder. John is survived by 1 son, Gene (Judy) Wolff of Howells, 3 daughters, Jan (LeRoy) Gall of Schuyler, Cindy (Duane) Brester of Dodge, and Deb (Marvin) Indra of Howells; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, brothers Tony (Leona) Wolff of Fairfield Bay, AR and brother and sister-in-law Ed and Rose Wolff of Dodge; brother-in-law Richard Schlautman of Dodge.
