Joe F. Kohout, 86, of Dwight, passed away on September 19, 2013 at the Butler County Health Care Center.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, September 23, 2013 at 10 am at Dwight Assumption Catholic Church with Father Jerel Scholl officiating. Burial will be in the Bee Catholic Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday from 4-6 pm at the church followed by a 6 pm Rosary and wake service.

Joe Kohout was born on April 14, 1927 to Joe A. and Eva (Nemec) Kohout in Seward County. He attended country schools in Seward and Butler counties then Dwight Assumption through the 10th grade. Joe entered the Army on March 21, 1946 and was honorably discharged on April 11, 1947. After the discharge from the Army, he worked several jobs until he began to farm with his dad. When his dad retired, Joe farmed with his nephew, Marvin. He loved farming, and did so until he was no longer able to. He was a member of the Catholic Workmen for 70 years.
Joe is survived by his sister: Bernadine Kohout of Dwight; nephew: Marvin Andel of David City; niece: Sharon Smith of David City; and great nieces and nephews: April Smith, Adam Smith, Sarah Smith and Valerie Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother: Lawrence; and sister: Arlene E. Andel.
