Joe Hegemann

Joe was born March 24, 1938 at Howells to Theodore and Dorthea (Pieper) Hegemann. He attended Howells Catholic Schools, graduated from Howells High School in 1956 and attended Northeast Technical College in Norfolk. On June 10, 1961 he and JoAnn Svoboda were united in marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Joe loved farming and raising hogs. He also enjoyed taking a Sunday drive in the country any day of the week. He liked to travel and attend Stock Car Races. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Past Grand Knight, he had served on the Howells Community Catholic School Board, S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery Board and the Rural Fire Department Board. Joe died, at the age of 72, February 5th at Parkview Home in Dodge where he had been a resident for the past three years. Joe is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Howells; six children, Bernard (Theresa) Hegemann of Clarkson, Connie Rolf of Dodge, David (Brenda) Hegemann of Howells, Kevin (Lisa) Hegemann of Howells, Dennis (Stacey) Hegemann of Farmington, MN and Brian (Shawn) Hegemann of Howells; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Alice) Hegemann of Fremont and Victor (Mary Ann) Hegemann of Richardson, TX; four sisters, Kathleen Baumert of Clarkson, Arlene (Reuben) Doerneman, of Howells, Sister Myriam Hegemann of Milwaukee, WI and Marie Kruger of Omaha. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Adolph, Raymond and Leonard Hegemann; three sisters, Adella Fendrick, Helen Schlautman and Sister Dorelia Hegemann. Family suggest memorial to Howells Community Catholic Schools. Funeral lunch will be served at St. John's School.
