Joan Salak, 70, of Columbus passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Emerald Care and Rehab Center in Columbus.
Memorials can be directed towards Family Wishes.
Joan Marcella Salak was born on July 3, 1949 in Schuyler to Robert and Marcella (Severyn) Dvorak. She graduated from Assumption Academy High School in Norfolk. Joan then received her certification as a nurse’s assistant and worked in several retirement homes while raising her two sons.
She was extremely dedicated to her family, and they meant the world to her. Joan was a devout Catholic who enjoyed her daily prayer time, praying the rosary (with the many she had collected), and visiting with Father Joe. John Wayne could always be expected to be playing on the TV when you walked into her room, and if by chance he wasn’t, Joan’s John Wayne calendar could help you find the day of the week.
She is survived by her sons Charles R. Salak of Leigh and Dallas Salak of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Kody Salak of Lincoln, Lacey and Riley Salak of Columbus, Dallas Jr. and Rosalie Salak of Phoenix, AZ; brothers: Joe Dvorak of Clarkson and Mike (Lynne) Dvorak of Schuyler; sisters: Jean (Gary) Bouc of Lincoln, Judy (Ron) Eller of Kodiak, Alaska, Jane Dvorak of Schuyler, and Janet Dvorak of Columbus and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents.
