Joan J.(Semin) Ihde, 70, of Omaha, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 at Alegent Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 at 10:00am in Immaculate Conception Church, Ulysses with burial in the church cemetery. Viewing will be on Thursday, from 4-7pm followed by a 7PM rosary at the funeral home. Additional viewing will be on Friday, one hr before services at the church.
Joan J. Ihde was born on January 13, 1938 to Louis and Laura (Korinek) Semin Young in Waverly. She graduated from Ulysses high School in 1955 as Class Valedictorian. She married Larry Ihde on May 21, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ulysses. They lived in the Sidney, Nebraska area for a short time before moving to Omaha in 1958.
She was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Omaha and a member of the Millard VFW Auxiliary Post 8334. She worked as an art designer for a local picture gallery in Omaha.
She enjoyed doing needlepoint, embroidery, reading, spending time with family, especially her grandkids, traveling, playing cards, going to the casinos. She also enjoyed football, especially watching the Huskers play.
Survivors include her husband, Larry, of Omaha; sons: Larry "Chuck" (Terri)Ihde of Omaha, and Darin (Florence) Ihde of Firestone, CO; daughters: Laurie Karls of Omaha, and Tami (Bill) Hawkinson of Omaha; brother Dean (Marie) Semin of Ulysses; grandchildren: Amber Ihde, Jason Karls, Megan Karls, Garrett Karls, Ashley Hawkinson and Brandi Hawkinson; and great grandson Davion Karls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Don and Dale Semin, sister, Ginger Semin; and nephew James Dean Semin.
