Jerry R Rettele

Jerry R. Rettele, 73, of Bellwood, died Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.

Memorials: In Care of the Family to be used to establish a scholarship in Jerry's name.

Jerry R. Rettele was born on January 26, 1942 to Joe and Twila(Johnson)Rettele at Axtell, Kansas. He graduated from Baileyville Kansas High School in 1960. Jerry married Sandra Harris on November 16, 1968 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood. Sandra passed away on Oct. 22, 2005.

Jerry was a jockey for 14 years. After an injury forced him to retire as a rider, he began a business of picking horse race winners, printing and selling the "Blue and Gold" sheets until 2006. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing word puzzles, reading, and of course, horses. Jerry was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood.

Survivors include his mother, Twila of Tecumseh, NE, 5 brothers: Dale and Richard of Northville, MI, Loren of Glendora, CA, Marvin of Spring Branch, TX and John of Tecumseh, NE, 2 sisters: Marilyn Ritter of Live Oak, FL and Judy Bergman of Danville, IA. 16 Godchildren and numerous members of the Dorothy Harris family as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, his wife, Sandy and twin brother, Larry.
