Jeanette Konsel, 93, of Elkhorn, formerly of Howells passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Nye Legacy in Fremont.
Memorials can be directed towards Howells Community Catholic School, S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, or Family Wishes for later designation.
A Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, September 24, at 10:30 a.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. Family Greeting friends will be Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. all at the church. Additional visitation time will be Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:30 at the church. Inurnment will be at S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery with lunch following at the Howells Catholic Social Hall. Svoboda Moravec Johnson Mortuary is assisting Jeanette's family with arrangements.
Jeanette (Jean) Ann Konsel was born to William & Elizabeth Knust on May 2, 1931 in Howells. She attended Sts. Peter & Paul Parochial School from 1st thru 8th grade. After 8 th grade, she completed her schooling and graduated from Howells High School. Upon graduation, attended Midlands College and obtained a teaching degree. She utilized this education by teaching for 5 years in a one-room school house in the Howells area.
After marriage to Jack Konsel on August 12, 1952 they lived in Howells for a short time before moving to a farm one mile south of town where they managed a commercial feed lot under the name of Grove Hill Cattle Company. Jeanette worked side-by-side with Jack until they sold the feed lot and retired to Howells.
During this time in her life, Jeanette had jobs at the Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge as well as working in the kitchen of Howells High School for a number of years. Jeanette and Jack were members of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and Jeanette was a long-time member of the Christian Mothers Organization.
In 2015 Jack and Jeanette moved to Elkhorn, NE, and were together there until Jack died in April, 2018. Jeanette continued to reside in Elkhorn until her death.
She is survived by her children: Jack (Marlene) Konsel of Fremont, Jane (Chris) Hake of Kansas City, Juli (Dave) Fiala of Howells, and daughter-in-law LaDonna Konsel of Omaha. Eight grandchildren: Melissa(Sam) Stutzman, Bethany(Pat) Morrison, Sarah(Zac) Buckmiller, Amanda (Adam) Zghall, Brett Konsel and Ryan (Jen) Konsel, and Clint Fiala. Ten great-grandchildren: Claire, Erica, Carlie, and William Stutzman, Zoe, Abigail, and Mason Buckmiller, and Olivia, Sophia, and Evelyn Morrison and sister Arlene Kersten, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack in 2018, infant son Joseph Konsel; son Bill Konsel, grandson Michael Konsel, sisters Verena Luebbert, Lenore Weiler, and Alda Wieman.
