Janice H. Struebing, 90, of Rising City, widow of Dean, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City.

Janice Harriet Smith was born on November 5, 1928 at Rising City, Nebraska to Lloyd and Golda (Miller) Smith. She attended District #30, Cornhusker School and went on to graduate from Rising City High School in 1946.
Janice attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for one year and then graduated from Clarkson Nursing School in 1950 as a Registered Nurse.
On November 5, 1950, she married Dean Struebing at the Rising City Methodist Church. Three sons were born to this union.
Janice was a member of the United Methodist Church, holding many offices, and a member of the U.M.W, serving as president and secretary. She was also in the S.O.S. Club, Over 60's Club and active in Cub Scouts.
She was employed at the Butler County Health Care Center, previously known as Butler County Hospital and David City Hospital for 25 years as a staff and surgical nurse. She retired in September of 1992.
Janice is survived by her sons: Michael (Peg) of Omaha, David (Bev) of Brainard and Jeffrey (Joan) of Pensacola, FL, 7 Grandchildren: Erin Struebing, Amy (Tyler) McCabe, Emily Struebing, Brett(Kathy) Struebing, Kyle Struebing, Sadie (Andrew) Conn, and Christian Struebing. 7 Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dean in 2008, 4 brothers: Gerald, Lloyd Dean, Alfred and Gordon and two sisters, Bernice Bemis and Marian Pahl.
