James West, 88, of Bellwood died Friday July 27, 2012 at the Butler County Health Care Center.
Graveside Service will be Monday July 30, 2012 at 11 AM at the Bellwood Cemetery with Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by Bellwood American Legion Post #327. Viewing will be on Sunday from 3 until 5 PM at Chermok Funeral Home.
Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society, Lupus Foundation, Bellwood Vol. Fire Department or to the Donor's Choice.
James (Jim) West was born on March 26, 1924 to Harry and Anna (Ladwig) West at Bellwood. He served in the US Army from 1943 until 1946. He was united in marriage to Helen Sloup in December of 1949 at the Wahoo United Methodist Church. He then spent 10 years doing construction and 26 years as a factory worker at Becton Dickinson. He also was a carpenter.
He enjoyed many hobbies, but most of all, he loved beekeeping. He was a member of the Bellwood United Methodist Church and Bellwood American Legion Post #0327. He was a lifelong resident of Bellwood until moving to David Place in 2009.
Survivors include a daughter: Diane Stricklin and a son Norman (Linda) West; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister Thelma Hascall and brothers Harry West and John (Pearl) West.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 2006, his parents, and sisters Doris West, Lois Backman and Florence Kamenske
