Jack McDonald

June 15, 1954 — January 21, 2023

Pastor Jack McDonald, 68, of Bellwood, died Saturday, January 21, 2023 of natural causes at his residence in Bellwood.

A Graveside service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Pleasant View Cemetery, located approx. 1 & 1/2 miles south off Highway 64 and D Road.

Jack D. McDonald was born on June 15, 1954 to Jay C. and Maxine (Crouse) McDonald at Columbus, Nebraska. After high school, Jack attended a two year college, learning computer programing and then went on to 4 years of higher education in biblical studies. Jack served as pastor for the Congregational Church in David City for over 25 years until his retirement. In his earlier years, Jack owned and served as chef in his cafe in Bellwood. Jack loved to cook, bake and spend time in the kitchen. He would be the main chef for many family celebrations and even for friends and special events. He also made several wedding cakes for local couples and was known for his cinnamon rolls, pizza and hot casserole dishes.

After his Christian Faith, Jacks second love was music. He was an organist/pianist for several weddings, funerals and special events. He had a wonderful voice and would be the soloist for many of these same events. Jack's specialty was making a pipe organ sound like a little bit of heaven. He enjoyed every chance he got to play this special instrument.

Jack loved to attend concerts, plays, musicals, group choirs and most music related events. He also enjoyed sewing, making costumes for several plays. He was proud of his outdoor flower garden and within the family he held the honorary title of "The Mother of all Flowers". Jack also served on the Pleasant View Cemetery Board for several years.

Jack's smile, humor and personality will be truly missed. He has moved on to a better place, leaving us to remember the good times and the love he gave to all those whose lives he touched.

Jack is survived by his sister, Judy (Greg) Svoboda of Bruno, brother, Rodney of Bellwood, sister-in-law, Shirley McDonald of Bellwood and former sister-in-law, Diana. His two precious dogs, Bobo and Tucker and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gary and Ricky, infant brother, Joe and sister-in-law, Renee McDonald.
