Irene Pelan

Irene was born Dec. 7, 1927 in Prague to John J. and Gustie M. (Fencl) Odvody. She graduated from Prague High School in 1945. On Sept. 15, 1947, Irene married Victor Ernest Pelan at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. They farmed in Bruno until 1975 when they moved to Seward and then moved to Schuyler in 1976. Irene was a homemaker, member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler and a member of the St. Mary’s Guild. She enjoyed sewing, doing embroidery work, listening to polka music, gardening, baking and especially family get-togethers. Irene is survived by 8 sons: Ivan ( Karen) of Schuyler, Arnold (Maureen) of Denver, CO, Victor, Jr ( Sharon) of Dwight, Norman of Columbus, Daniel (Tracy) of Leigh, Arthur (Jodi) of Brainard, Richard (Linda) of Columbus Steven (Christine) of Columbus; 3 daughters: Veronica (Tom) Sherwood of Lincoln, Loretta (Glen) Palmer of Linwood and Margaret (Anthony) Valenti of Rising City; 27 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister: Lorraine (Milo T.) Pelan of Brainard. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor in 1989, daughter-in-law, Lorna and three grandchildren.
