Henry C. Piitz died peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Tabitha Life Quest Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln.

Immediately following the burial in David City, a funeral lunch will be held at the Klein Center in Brainard.
Henry was born on September 25, 1933, on the farm near Brainard to Mathias and Ludmila(Behne)Piitz. He attended local schools, graduating from Brainard High School in 1951. He was a star basketball player, able to make the "long shots" to score. He worked on the yearbook staff and was vice-president of his class. Henry entered the US Army, serving for two years as active military, with some time spent in Korea, and four years in reserves. After his discharge, Henry came home to farm and raise cattle in the Brainard area. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Church, a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, and Rejda Legion Post 273. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Huskers. He also enjoyed playing cards and was a two time DARDA champion. He was an avid toy tractor and memorabilia collector and he loved to take country drives and check out the crops.
Henry is survived by his sister, Theresa Jaax of Shelby, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Francis "Bud" Piitz and sister, Rosalyn Hermsen.
