Mass of Christian Burial for 90 year old Helen Anne Palik, of Schuyler will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler. Visitation will be held at the Svoboda Funeral Home South Chapel on Monday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7:00 PM Parish Rosary. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Schuyler.
Helen Anne was born February 1, 1925 in Schuyler to Charles H. and Rosalie (Krause) Chase. She attended grade school in Schuyler and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1943. She graduated “with distinction” from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in 1949 and earned her Master of Arts degree “with distinction” in 1955. Helen Anne was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Helen Anne taught at Bayard, NE High School, York, NE High School and Boys Town. She attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha from 1961-1965, and taught at Clarkson, NE High School from 1969-73. During her teaching career she taught English, Spanish, and served as librarian.
On August 24, 1978 Helen Anne married Milo Joseph Palik at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral in Omaha. She assisted in the family farming operations and continued to serve as a substitute teacher until 2005. Helen Anne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler, loved to read, and learn about other cultures and was an avid traveler.
Helen Anne is survived by one brother, Phillip (Judy) Chase of California, sister-in-law Judy Chase also of California and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milo in 2009 and brother Charles.
