A funeral mass for Helen Kluthe, age 77 of Howells, will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Howells. Visitation will be held at the church Tuesday from 2 PM to 7 PM and on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 3 PM and 7 PM. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Helen Rae was born December 14, 1937 in Cozad, NE and was the first of three children born to William B and Erma Harvill Searls. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1955 and on January 17, 1961 she and Leonard C. Kluthe were married in Cozad. They made their home in Howells and Helen is a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the church choir (serving as coordinator for several years), Christian Mothers, Community Club, the Howells Harmonist and was very active in all arears of their church. She is a past leader of the Busy Bees 4-H club, enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, canning and reading. Helen was a very crafty lady and participated in Craft Shows in a wide area. Helen died April 26, 2015 at Methodist Medical Center in Omaha following a very short illness.
Helen is survived by her husband, Leonard of Howells; five children, Marcy (Bob) Reisdorff of Lincoln, Cheryl McKamy and her friend, Mike, of Huntsville, AR, Steve Kluthe and his friend, Debbie, of Fayetteville, AR, Susan (Chester) Nemec of Howells, James Kluthe and his friend, Sandra, of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Gary Searls of Cozad; sister Pat Baumert of Falls City.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Howells Rescue Squad.
Funeral lunch will be served at St. John's Catholic School.
