Helen Henderson, age 83 years of Bellwood, Nebraska, died Nov 12, 2009 at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln. Helen was born August 7, 1926 in Columbus to Walter and Margaret (Wolf)Roth. She attended school in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High in 1944. Helen married Joseph Splichal, and the couple later divorced. On August 6,1949, Helen was united in marriage to Earl Henderson in Wahoo, NE. Earl worked for Peter Kiewit, Co building the nation's interstate system, so the family lived in many places across the country. In the early 1970's, they settled in Blair. In 1980, they moved to Bellwood where they owned and operated Helen's Bar until 1983. They then moved to Schuyler, and after Earl died in 1992, Helen moved back to Bellwood. Helen was a member of Bellwood United Methodist Church where she was active in Bible Study and Methodist Women. She also belonged to Red Hat Society, Widow's Club, and American Legion Auxillary. Helen was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball fan, and she loved to sew, knit, crochet, go shopping, read westerns and be with her family. Helen is survived by her 8 children: Joyce (Gary) Navrkal of Bellwood Sandra (Larry) Agler of Indiana Roberta (Barry) Preston of Bellwood Jean (Keith) Shaw of Columbus Judy (Mark) Reuter of Omaha Patricia (Mike) Kozisek of David City Thomas (Robin) Henderson of Tennessee Peggy (Dan) Hough of Bellwood She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, 1 brother, 2 sisters and son in law John Coe.
