Harry L. West, 97, of David City died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at David Place in David City.

Harry L. West Jr was born on July 21, 1922 at Bellwood, Nebraska to Harry and Anna (Ladwig) West Sr. He attended the Bellwood schools, graduating from Bellwood High School in 1940. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1942, serving as a member of the engine room crew aboard two naval ships in the South Pacific for two years. He made a career of serving the Coast Guard, retiring in 1966.
Harry married Louise Lindstrom in 1950. They lived in the Pennsylvania and Maryland areas until Louise passed away in 1990. Harry later moved to David City to be near family.
Harry is survived by his brother, John West of Nevada, MO, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Doris, wife, Louise in 1990, Sisters, Thelma Hascall, Florence Kamenske and Lois Backman, brother, James West and special friend, Anna Miller.
