Funeral service for Harold Hruska, age 94 of Columbus, will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Columbus on Friday, January 8th at 11 AM. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM and on Friday from 10 AM to 11 AM. Rosary will be recited at 7 PM Thursday at the church. Burial will be at 2 PM on Friday in the Schuyler Cemetery.
Harold was born July 3, 1921 in Colfax County to Jaroslav and Emma (Mastny) Hruska. He attended rural school District 61 and graduated from Clarkson High School in 1938. Harold served in the Marines from October 9, 1942 to February 11, 1946 and was stationed in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater where he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. Harold farmed in Colfax County and he enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the V.F.W. and St. Anthony’s Parish.
On February 14, 1996 he was married to Mary Lou (Belik) Parolek and they lived in Arizona and Schuyler before making their home in Columbus. Harold died January 5, 2015 at Brookstone Acres where he had been a resident for about two weeks.
Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Columbus; step-daughter Elizabeth (Tom) Faltys of Schuyler; step grandchildren, Josh (Jessica) Faltys, Clint (Nancy) Faltys and Kelli (Brad) Parsons; step-great grandchildren, Haylee, Brittney, Brooklyn, Trent, Tyler, Jackson Mason Faltys and Ashlie Kluck and Quinn Parsons.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Margaret Prentice, second wife, Eva Cummings.
Lunch will be served at St. Anthony's Church immediately following the mass.
