Gladys Truksa

August 18, 1924 — July 11, 2009

Gladys M. Truska, 84, of David City, died Saturday, July 11 at her residence.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church, David City. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. At Gladys' request, there will be no viewing, but a register book will be available for signing on Tuesday, from 6-7pm followed by a 7pm PCCW Rosary all at St. Mary's Church, David City.

Mrs. Truksa was born on August 18, 1924 to Louis and Frances(Kriz)Coufal, on the farm near Goehner. Her family soon moved to the Staplehurst area where they farmed until moving to Oregon. She moved back to Nebraska in 1947. She married Joseph A. Truksa on June 10, 1947 at Bee, Nebraska. Four sons were born to this union.
Gladys worked as a farm wife, homemaker and mother, as well as working for many years at BD's in Columbus before retiring. She enjoyed baking, cooking, going to the Senior Center and volunteering. She also enjoyed playing cards, polka music, gardening, family gatherings and was a huge Husker fan. She and her husband raised dogs and they enjoyed watching them race. She liked to fish and spend time with friends and family.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the PCCW.
Gladys is survived by her sons: Joseph, Ronald(Diane); Daniel(Jeri) and James(Vicki)Truksa all of David City; 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1993; one sister and one brother.
