Gladys M. Murta, 78, of Omaha, died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Nebraska Skilled Nursing Home in Omaha.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10:30am in Immaculate Conception Church, Ulysses, Nebraska with Fr. Raymond Jansen officiating.
Gladys was born December 5, 1932 to Emil J. and Anna (Chmelka) Rech. She graduated from Ulysses High School in 1951 and after attending college for several years, worked as a legal secretary. At the age of 23 she moved to Omaha and has lived there since. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Omaha, and a member of AARP. Gladys enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, playing the piano, singing in the choir, acting in plays, playing volleyball and cards.
She is survived by four sons: Bryon (Colleen) Murta, Sean Murta, Kevin Murta and Thomas Murta, all of Omaha; daughter Michaela Hayden of Omaha, grandchildren: Tim Hayden, of Omaha, Jackie Hayden of Omaha, Melissa Murta, Corey Murta, Elizabeth Murta, and Anna Murta, all of Omaha and a great granddaughter: Taliyah Winn of Omaha.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and brother Don Rech.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ulysses.
Parish Rosary will be Wedneday, 10:00am at the church. Viewing will be on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00am also at the church.
