Funeral services for Gertrude Luxa, age 99 of Dodge, will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Howells. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, April 6th, from 4 PM to 7 PM and on Tuesday starting at 9:30 AM. Burial will be at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, April 7th in the Stanton Cemetery.
Gertrude was born January 20, 1916 in Stanton County to Gustave and Martha (Hilliges) Fechner. She attend rural school in Stanton County and the Lutheran parochical school in Stanton. On August 26, 1959 Gertie married Lumir Luxa at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. She graduated from the Norfolk Beauty School and owned and operated Gertrude’s Beauty Shop in Howells from 1941 to 1959 when they moved to Norfolk. In 1979 they moved back to Howells and Gertrude lived there until 2008 when she moved to Parkview Home in Dodge. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid (serving as treasurer for many years), GFWC Woman’s Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Gertrude died March 22, 2015 at Parkview Home in Dodge.
Gertrude is survived by one sister, Dorothy Travnicek of Dodge; two nieces, Judy (Gene) Wolff of Howells and Joyce (Jim) Kennedy of Riverton, WY.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lumir (6/19/1982).
Family suggest memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Family choice.
