Geraldine Frances (Svoboda) Zimmer, 86, of Bellwood, NE passed away on January 5, 2019 at Saint Joseph’s Villa in David City, NE.

Geraldine was born April 11, 1932, to Albin and Cecilia (Aerts) Svoboda. After graduating from David City High School, Geraldine attended normal training, and taught grades K-8 in a one room school in rural Butler County. Geraldine married Carol Zimmer on August 27, 1956, and began supporting her husband in their farming operation near Bellwood, NE. She became active in the Bellwood Saint Peter’s Parish, teaching CCD and as a longtime member of the Altar Society. Geraldine was also a 4-H club leader in the Bellwood, NE area for many years, while participating in the Women Involved in Farm Economics (WIFE) organization. Geraldine had a love for family, flowers, and quilting.
Survived by her husband Carol Zimmer; son Larry (Cindy) Zimmer of Bellwood, daughters Janet (Duane) Mulligan of Columbus, and daughter Amy (Gregg) Shonka of Lincoln; grandson Brian (Angie) Zimmer of Lincoln, NE, great-grandchildren Ashley and James Zimmer; grandson Kyle (Katie) Mulligan of Hastings, NE, great-grandchildren Madelyn and Miles Mulligan, granddaughter Krista (Mulligan) Moon of Columbus, NE, great-grandchildren Kylar, Harpyr and Tuckyr Moon; and grandson Jared Mulligan of Columbus, NE; and grandchildren Andrew, Aryssa, Anna, Abby and Ayauna Shonka all of Lincoln, NE; sister Wilma (Joe) Kosch of Columbus, NE; brother Jerome (Sharon) Svoboda of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Dolores (Kunke) Zimmer of Wheaton, MN; uncle Frank (Mary Ann) Aerts of Columbus, aunts Darlene Darnell of Browns Valley, MN, and Maxine Aerts of David City, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law Frank and Charlotte (Kosch) Zimmer; brother Leroy Svoboda and sister-in-law Viola (Haase) Svoboda-Rueth of Columbus, NE, brother-in-law Duane Zimmer of Wheaton, MN, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lois (Zimmer) and Joe Speicher of David City, NE and many aunts and uncles.
