George G. Coufal, 89, of Dwight, passed away March 23, 2015 at david place in David City, Nebraska.
George Coufal was born on December 14, 1925 to George A. and Mary (Hofpar) Coufal, in Dwight, Nebraska. He graduated from Dwight High School, then served in the United States Army from 8-30-1944 to 7-3-1946. George then attended college at Lincoln School of Commerce. On November 15, 1949, he married Dolores Ratkovec, in Plasi, Nebraska.
George was a jack-of-all-trades. He worked at American Stores in Lincoln, and farmed in the Dwight area. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and Brainard Rejda Legion Post #273. He was an acolyte, decorated Veteran, and his life was devoted to his family.
George is survived by his wife of 65 years: Dolores Coufal; children: Danette (Les) Luth, of Seward, NE, Diane (Gary) Pleskac, of Dwight, NE, George Coufal, Jr., of Bruno, NE, Teresa (Irvin) Pernicek, of Brainard, NE; sisters: Marianne Valcan, Betty Didier; 13 grandchildren: Neil Pleskac, Todd Pernicek, Brian Pernicek, Matt Pernicek, Jesse Coufal, Nathan Coufal, Justin Luth, Melissa Wilson, Amber Siebert, Raven Luth, Calli Pleskac, Kristen Pleskac, and Elizabeth Pernicek; 9 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Edward Coufal; sister Lucille Pokorny; and infant sister: Margaret Coufal.
