Gary L. Otto, 67, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at David Place.
Funeral Services are 10:30 am Monday, April 5, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Rising City with Pastor Glenn Hubbard, officiating.
Graveside services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rising City, with Pastor David Palomaki officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 5 - 8 pm at Chermok Funeral Home in David City.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Ulysses Fire Department or the American Heart Association.
Gary was born March 29, 1943 in David City to Read and Berniece (Kelly) Otto. He graduated from David City High School in 1961. On January 24, 1976 he married Sandra Schroeder at Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Gary was a life long farmer in the Surprise-Ulysses area. He was a lifelong member of the Ulysses Methodist Church. A member of the Ulysses Volunteer Fire Department, Composite Lodge # 81 of Rising City; and was a member of the Ulysses Rural Fire Department Board, and served in the National Guard.
He enjoyed farming, livestock, watching the markets, driving around on his four wheeler and in his truck. He enjoyed watching the garden grow in the summer and lived for the sweetcorn patch.
He was a people person and liked having people around. He especially liked watching his grandkids play.
Gary is survived by his wife Sandra, of Ulysses; his son: Matthew (April)Otto of Ceresco; daughters: Tamra (Joe) Mick of Lincoln and Heidi Otto of Beaufort, SC; mother: Berniece Otto of Lincoln; brother: Rick (Terry) Otto of Lincoln; sister Lynda (Jim) Endicott of Poway, CA; and grandchildren: Andrew, Reid and Alexa Otto and Carter and Tyler Mick.
He was preceded in death by his father Read Otto in 1977.
