Gary D. Jones

Gary D. Jones, 78, of Rising City, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. Gary Jones was born on July 14, 1935 at David City, Nebraska to Henry and Gertrude(Selden)Jones. He lived his life around the David City and Rising City areas. He graduated from Rising City High School and worked for Smith's Dairy. Gary married Irene Marie Martens on Feb. 14, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Rising City. Three children were born to this union. He worked at Columbus Hydrolic for over 44 years and farmed for 20 years. He retired in 1999. In his younger years, he enjoyed blue rock shooting, deer and pheasant hunting and fishing. He was an avid collector of many things.
Gary is survived by his wife, Irene, sons, Dean of David City and Dan of Temecula, CA, daughter; Julie(Kevin) Kamphaus of Fremont, five grandchildren: Debbie Jones, Nathan Jones, Jamie Jones, Andy(Sami)Jones and AJ Kamphaus. He was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Justin Dills, Michelle, Lauren and Emily Jones. Sister: Nadine Kliment of Topeka, KS, and Sister-in-law: Judith Jones of Columbus, NE.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, Duane Jones and grandson, Brandon Kamphaus.
