Frank Ostdiek, 54 of David City, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 in Omaha. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm Monday, January 25th at Chermok Funeral Home and after 6 pm at the church, followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour before service time at the church. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in David City.
Frank was born August 25, 1955 to Herman and Irene (Schroer) Ostdiek in Superior, Nebraska. He graduated from Lawrence (NE) High School in 1974. On November 24, 1979 he married Helen Tillemans at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Hastings. NE. Frank was a maintenance mechanic at Cargill Meat Solution in Schuyler.
Frank moved to David City in 1996 from Mankato, Kansas. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a master gardener and loved his granddaughter.
Frank is survived by his wife, Helen, of David City, sons John R. Ostdiek and his fiance Jennifer Krueger of Omaha; Corey M. (Sara) Ostdiek of Hastings; daughter Chanda M. Ostdiek and her fiance Chris Nelsen of Yankton, SD; granddaughter Addison Ostdeik of Yankton, SD; brothers, John Ostdiek, Ed Ostdiek and Ray Ostdiek all of Lawrence, NE; sisters, Marge Buescher of South Bend, NE; and Marie Herbek of Deweese, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Vern Ostdiek.
The family has requested memorials to the Guardian Angel Fund at Aquinas High School or to Family's Choice.
