Evelyn M. Grubaugh, 83, of David City, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Butler County Health Care Center in David City.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 14, 2008 at 10:30am in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, David City with Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial will be in the David City Cemetery. Viewing will be on Friday, from 2-7pm at Chermok Funeral Home and Saturday, one hr prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be given in care of the family.
Evelyn M. Grubaugh was born on Thursday, October 16, 1924 at Central City, Nebraska to Roy and Blanche(Whitmore)Powell. She graduated high school and married Robert Grubaugh on Aug. 1, 1946 in David City. She joined the Navy and was a secretary in the area where decodings were studied. She was a sales clerk for J.C. Penny, worked as a bookkeeper for the grain elevator that her husband managed. She moved to Bemidji, Minnesota in 1975 to help her husband manage and run a fishing resort.
She moved back to David City in 1989 and lived in her home until her husband passed away in 2004. She then moved to David Place where she resided until she passed away.
She enjoyed fishing, traveling, and was specially fond of her trips to New Foundland, the Bahamas and the Pacific Northwest. She was a terrific cook and loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her son Terry of David City, one grandson: Jason(Rea) Grubaugh of Lincoln; two sisters: Lillian(Bob) Guilliaume of North Platte, NE, and Dorothy Hubbel of Montrose, CO; one brother-in-law: Eugene(Marge)Grubaugh of David City; three sisters-in-law: Lenora Alt of Shelby, Lois "Betty" Powell and Doris Stoll both of David City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob on Oct. 9, 2004, son Robert on Aug. 14, 2002, two brothers: David and Dean Powell; two sisters: Betty Hitch and infant sister: Marjorie.
