Evelyn S. Coufal, 89, of Brainard died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City.
Evelyn Sophia was born October 30, 1925 to Joseph and Sophia(Maly) Rezac, on the farm near Brainard. She came from a family of 13 children. She went to school until the 8th grade at Oak Creek Country School. On January 24, 1945, Evelyn was united in marriage to Ted Coufal at St. Luke's in Loma, Nebraska.
She was a farmer's wife, helping with all farm and house chores. Evelyn especially enjoyed driving the 4-wheelers. She was an excellent kolache baker and potato dumpling maker. Evelyn also enjoyed gardening, and canning. She was known to dance and sing in the garden and fields. Evelyn was a puzzle master, working on all types of puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years: Ted Coufal; daughters: Shirley (Rick) Culwell, of Lincoln, and Noreen (Duane) Niemann, of Lincoln; brother: Adrian (Betty) Rezac; 5 grandchildren: Kim (Rick) Stockman, Jason (Theresa) Codr, David (Roseann) Codr, Marisa Niemann, and Cassie Niemann; 7 great-grandchildren: Madison Stockman, Karly Codr, Emma Codr, Carson Codr, Anisa Paisley, Rudy Paisley, Imara Codr; and several nieces & nephews.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Sophia Rezac; and brothers and sisters: Adeline, Stanley, Joe, Bill, Elmer, Ernest, Marie, Ray, John, Cel, and Gene.
