Eunice Ruth, 81, of Rising City, passed away August 14, 2015 at david place in David City, Nebraska.

Eunice was born December 19, 1933 to Thomas and Inis(Brown) Sanley, in Surprise, Nebraska. She graduated from Rising City High School, and went on to receive a teaching certificate from Concordia, then taught for 7-8 years at country schools near Rising City and Surprise. Eunice and Stephen Ruth were united in marriage on June 13, 1954 at the United Methodist Church in Rising City.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women's group, the Friendship Club, Sweet Adelines, and the Keenagers. Eunice enjoyed going to auctions, garage sales, and the grandkids' sporting events. She was an avid reader, and liked crossword puzzles, watching game shows, flower gardening, and traveling.
Eunice was widely known as the Pie Baker. She put together her own cookbook, "The Farmers Wife". She was a Champion Pie Baker. Eunice went to many contests, which included the State Fair, one in New York, and in New Orleans. She was a fabulous and creative cook, and always had desserts, especially her cinnamon rolls.
Eunice is survived by her husband of 61 years: Steve Ruth; children: Wendy Ruth, of Lincoln, Heidi Rehmer(Justin Riha), of David City, Judd (Lisa) Ruth, of Rising City; sisters: Jane (Donald) Glock, of Rising City, Nancy (Arnold) Stuthman, of Platte Center; 4 grandchildren: Justin (Alicia) Rehmer, Samantha Rehmer, Morgan Ruth, Nicholas Ruth; 3 great-grandchildren: Gavin, Grace, and Olivia Rehmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
