Eugene Siroky, 79, of Linwood, passed away at home on March 4, 2018
Gene was born on May 22, 1938 to Emanuel and Minnie(Otoupal) Siroky in Saunders County. He attended local rural schools and graduated from David City High School. He married Sally Stara on September 17, 1960 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bruno. Two daughters were born to this union.
Gene had a great love for farming and family gatherings and put his heart into everything he did. As standout high school football player he earned the fitting nickname "Horse" because of his dependability and ability to move the ball down the field. He found great joy in Ford Pick-ups and International Tractors. While he endured ongoing ribbing for his devotion to the International tractor, he always responded with a quick smile and kind word. Gene had a hearty laugh and was a generous man in all aspects of his life. He was a member of the Abie Volunteer Fire Department, Abie School Board, S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Board, Aquinas Booster Club, and served as the treasurer for the Linwood Township.
Gene is survived by his wife: Sally Siroky, of Linwood; daughters: Pat (John) Hays, of Omaha, Denise(Stephen) Hill, of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law: Janice Siroky; 3 grandchildren: Alex(Catherine) Hays, Lauren Hays, and Tyler Hays; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother: Clair Siroky.
Suggested memorials are to S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and the Abie Volunteer Fire Department.
