Esther E. Raitt, 93, of Rising City, died Wedneday, December 6, 2006 at David Place in David City.
Esther Schultz Raitt was born on Jan. 19, 1913 on the farm six miles northeast of Rising City in Olive Township to Clayton and Hlena Ingleright Schultz. She was a life long member of the First English Lutheran Church, being confirmed in the class of 1927. She attended Rising City High School, graduating in 1931.
She married Dean Raitt on February 14, 1939 at West Point, Nebraska. They lived on the farmstead that Dean's grandparents, the David Curry's, originally homesteaded. Dean farmed while Esther worked several jobs, most prominent being a postal clerk in the Rising City Post Office and a clerk at Trotter's Store in David City. They retired in 1980 and moved into Rising City. Esther moved to David Place in 1994. Esther is survived by: Dean, her husband of 66 yrs, two sisters: Edith Jackson of Webb City, Missouri; Frances and Ernest Fish of David City; Sisters-in-law: Irene Kelly and Clarabelle and Myron Kilgore both of David City, Brother-in-law: Dick Raitt of Rising City. Several nieces and nephews.
