Ernest J. Petrzilka, 84, of Brainard, passed away on August 7, 2014 at The Amabassador, in Lincoln, NE.
Funeral memorial mass will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 10:30am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30-10:00am followed by a 10:00am Rosary Service. As per the family's wishes, Ernest was cremated and burial will take place at a later time.
Ernest J. Petrzilka was born August 20, 1929 to James and Francis(Riha) Petrzilka, on the farm in Brainard. He went to school at Holy Tronity and graduated from the 8th grade and took over the farm at the age of 12. Ernest was a member of the U.S. Army from June 4, 1953 to March 21, 1955 serving as a Sergeant in the Korean War. On August 20, 1960, Ernest and Twila Dickhute were united in marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard.
He enjoyed farming and driving his atv. Timberpoint was one of his favorite places to visit. Ernest loved his time with his grandchildren, and doing crossword puzzles. He was a proud member of the Brainard Rejda Legion Post #273.
Ernest is survived by his wife: Twila; son: Anthony, of Rising City; grandchildren: Dustin (Meagan Kucera) Valenti, Jesse (Danielle) Valenti, Andrew (Lynsey) Valenti; great-granddaughter: Maci Valenti; sisters: Rita Herms, Dorothy Doeden; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law: Margaret (Maggie) Valenti; and siblings: Bessie Patocka, Helen Hurt, Mary Swanda, James Petrzilka Jr., and George Petrzilka.
