Ernest J. Fiala, 87, of David City, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 10:00am in St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City with Fr. Bernard Kimminau officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Viewiing will be Friday, 2-5pm at Chermok Funeral Home and after 6pm at the church followed by a 7pm parish rosary also at the church. Additional viewing will be on Saturday, from 9-10am at St. Mary's Church.
Memorials may be given In Care of the Family.
Ernest J. Fiala was born on November 10, 1923 to Charles and Mary(Holeka)Fiala on the farm near Brainard, Nebraska.
He married Lucille Stastny on November 19, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City.
Ernest lived in the Butler County area all of his life. He farmed as well as raised cattle and Yorkshire Hogs, chickens and baled hay for others with his own baler. He also enjoyed bowling, Czech music, hunting, dancing, and traveling, especially to places such as Hawaii, Jamica and Spain. He earned many of those trips being a sucessful seed corn dealer.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille, Son: Harry(Peg)Fiala of David City; Daughter: Terry(Jerry Jr)McDonald of Bellwood, Brothers: Herman(MaryLou)Fiala of Bellevue, Leon(Judy)Fiala of Greenwood; 11 Grandchildren and 5 Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter: Gretchen Fiala and one great-grandson: Drew Fiala.
