Ernest Divis

Ernest T. Divis, 81, of David City, passed away Tuesday September 4, 2007 at Butler County Health Care Center in David City. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, September 7, 2007 at Chermok Funeral Home in David City with a Rosary following at 7:00 pm also at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Saturday, September 8, 2007 at St. Mary's Church in David City. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Ernest was born on December 27, 1925 to James and Mary (Kobza) Divis in rural Brainard, Nebraska. Ernest married Elsie M. Svoboda on June 19, 1944 at Holy Trinity Church in Brainard. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Ernest enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening. Survivors include his wife Elsie of David City; sons: Gary (Sharon) of Lincoln, Ron (Diane) of Arlington, TX, and Wayne (Cindy) of Dorchester, NE; daughter: Sharon Hollibaugh, and special friend David Behne of Brainard; brother: Jerome Divis of Brewster, Washington; 12 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 9 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James and Emmanuel; sisters: Mary Brukner and Rose Trojan.
