Emil Kouba

Emil W. Kouba, 73, of David City, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:30am in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Bellwood with Fr. Jay Buhman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, David City with military rites provided by Kregger Legion Post 125/VFW Post 5814 of David City.
Viewing will be Friday, from 1-4pm at Chermok Funeral Home and after 6pm at the church followed by a 7pm Knights of Columbus Rosary. Additional viewing will be on Saturday, from 10:00 until 10:30am at the church.
Memorials may be given In Care of the Family.
Emil W. Kouba was born on August 5, 1937 to Emil J and Rose(Matulka) Kouba on the farm southeast of David City. He attended David City Public Schools graduating from David City High School in 1956. Emil enlisted in the US Army in 1957 and spent much of his military time in Korea.
While stationed in Texas he met his future wife, Patricia Cavett and they married on January 3, 1961 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gladewater, Texas. Four children were born to this union.
After Emil was discharged from the Army, he went to work for Behlen Mfg in Columbus as a machinist and was also a member of the Behlen First Aid and fire brigade. He retired from Behlen after 39yrs of service. He also farmed and was a mechanic, being able to fix and build machinery as needed for his farm operations. He donated blood on a regular basis over many years. He also belonged to the Eagles Club, Kregger Legion Post 125 of David City and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, Tihen Council 1717 of David City.
Emil always made sure that he spent time with his children. He took them hunting and fishing and taught them how to handle guns, remove a fish from a hook and clean wild game.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia; children: Emil D. Kouba of David City, Teresa Rountree of David City, James Kouba and special friend: Rita Booze of Bruno; and Daniel Kouba of David City. Two sisters: Delores(Tom)Medinger of David City and Irene(Steve)Blankenbaker of Lincoln. 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren.
Emil was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law: Steven Lynn Rountree, and many aunts and uncles.
