Elsie Smola, 86, of Dwight passed away on November 29, 2012 at Greene House in Seward.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 10:00am at Dwight Assumption Parish with Father Jerel Scholl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, from 4-7pm followed by a 7pm parish rosary all at the church. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 9-10am at the church.
Elizabeth "Elsie" (Andel)Smola, was born on June 16, 1926 to Frank and Veronica(Janak) Andel on a farm near Appleton. She attended a country school near Appleton where she completed up to the 8th grade. On April 20, 1952 Elsie was united in marriage to Eugene "Bud" Smola at Assumption Parish in Appleton.
She was a member of Dwight Assumption Alter Society for many years. Elsie really enjoyed reading, baking, playing BINGO, gardening, babysitting, and collecting salt & pepper shakers, horses, and Santa Clauses. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her husband Bud Smola, daughter; Sheryl(Bill) Hughes of Dunn, NC, sons; Rick(Jane) Smola of David City, Joe(Carol) Smola of Dwight; daughters; Patti Romshek of David City, Jeanne Smola of Dwight, sisters; Martha Sejkora and Mary Anne(Don) Romshek, brother; Bob(Bernie) Andel, grandchildren; Michelle(Rob) Hendrickson, Nick(Sonja) Hughes, Lindsey(Jacob)Hamon, Quentin Smola, Alyssa Smola, Cody Smola, Jess Smola, Laci Smola, Amanda(Nick) Topil, Dustin(Rachel) Romshek, and Jordan June, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Marcel Andel and George Andel, son-in-law; Dennis Romshek, and granddaughter; Kimberly Hughes.
