Elgina was born December 1, 1924 in Howells, Nebraska to James and Rose (Pojar) Svitak. She attended District 27 School in Stanton County. On June 20, 1944 Elgina married Rudolph J. Bures at St. John's Catholic Church in Howells. Elgina was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Altar Society, and the Howells American Legion Auxillary. She loved quilting, gardening and baking and was especially known for her cookies. Elgina is is survived by two sons: Kenneth (Marilyn) Bures of Oakland, NE and Gilbert (Connie) Bures of Grand Canyon, AZ; two daughters: Elberta (Lumir A.) Spulak of Schuyler and Sharon (Ron) Burenheide of Howells; five brothers: Lambert (Helen) Svitak of Norfolk, Raymond Svitak of Norfolk, Vernon Svitak of Mesa, AZ, Randolph (Esther) Svitak of Creighton, and Edward (Mary) Svitak of Howells, sister-in-law: Maryann Svitak of Columbus; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rudolph J., brother Frank Svitak, sister Marcella Jindra, sisters-in-law Addy Svitak and Mildred Svitak and brother-in-law: Edward Jindra. The family suggests memorials to Howells Catholic Community School or Families Choice. Svoboda Funeral Home in Schuyler is in charge of arrangements.
