Edwin E. Kopke, age 90 of Rising City, passed away on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at Ridgewood Rehabilitation and Care Center in Seward following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday August 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Rising City with Rev. David Palomaki officiating. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. A luncheon will immediately follow the burial at Redeemer Lutheran Church in David City.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 until 5 PM at Chermok Funeral Home in David City and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Memorials have been suggested to the family.

Edwin Edgar Kopke was born February 24, 1921 to John and Etta Kopke at Milerton, NE. He attended elementary school as was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rising City. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1946 in the China Burma India Theatre during WWII.
Edwin was united in marriage to Naomi Marie Poppe on November 23, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church; they were blessed with two daughters, Faye and Beverly. In 1977 he married Pauline Chambers. He farmed in Butler County for 39 years.
Survivors include daughters Faye Kopke of Lincoln and Beverly (Frank)Hlavka of Rhinelander, WI; sisters Hilda and Dorothy Voss of Seward as well as nieces, nephews,several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Naomi and Pauline, 6 brothers, one sister and one step-granddaughter.
