Edwardine R. Stara, age 79 of Wahoo, formerly of David City, died Monday November 21, 2011, at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday November 26, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard with Fr. Bernard Kimminau as celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation with family will be Friday from 2 until 5 PM at Holesovsky Mortuary in Brainard and will continue on Saturday from 9 AM until time of service at church with a 10 AM parish rosary.
Memorials have been suggested to Masses or in care of the family.
Edwardine R. Stara was born on November 2, 1932 to Edward and Helen(Ruzek)Egr at Prague, NE. She attended rural grades schools and went on to graduate from Prague High School in 1950.
She worked as a waitress until her sister was born, then returned home to help her mother with the newborn.
Later in her life, she lived on a farm near Brainard where she raised two children. She belonged to Holy Trinity Church and the PCCW of Brainard. After her children were grown, she worked at Dvorak's Hilltop Cafe near Brainard.
Edwardine moved to David City in 2000, where she was a member of St. Mary's Church and PCCW. She also belonged to the Brainard Legion Auxillary for many years.
She enjoyed polka music, dancing, baking, cooking, traveling to places like the Black Hills, Pikes Peak, and Yellowstone. She also quilted, embroidered, loved to play cards and enjoy her many flowers.
Survivors include a daughter Janet Stara of Omaha; special friend Andrew Kobza of David City; a sister Karen (Gayle) Dendinger of Golden, CO; niece Rebecca (Kevin) Kersting of Golden, CO; and nephew Dave Dendinger of Golden, CO. Daughter-in-law: Jane Smola of Garrison, one great-niece and one great nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Helen Egr and a son Larry Stara.
