Edward J. Rerucha, 83 of Bruno, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:00am in St. Anthony's Church, Bruno with Fr. Ronald Homes as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery with military honors by Brainard Legion Post #273. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 to 5 PM at Chermok Funeral Home in David City and after 6 PM at the church followed by a 7 PM parish rosary. Addtional viewing will be Saturday, from 9-10am at the church.
Memorials may be given for Masses or Family Wishes.
Edward was born on March 9, 1928 on the farm near Bruno to Thomas and Sophie (Rech) Rerucha. He was a 1945 graduate of Brainard High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Japan. Ed farmed most of his life, but also worked for the REA and was responsible for getting power to the rural areas of Butler County; he was very good at fixing various types of machinery and also enjoyed reading. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Brainard Legion Post #273, as well as the Catholic Workmen.
Ed is survived by a brother; Albin Rerucha of Bruno; sisters in law; Lucille Rerucha of David City ; Mary Lou Rerucha of Ralston; and Nadine Rerucha of Lincoln as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tony, Richard, Ben, and Joe Rerucha; and sister in law; Mary Lou Rerucha and a niece Luann Portusch.
