Earl Zeilinger

November 16, 1920 — April 24, 2012

Earl C. Zeilinger, 91, of David City died Tuesday, April 24, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 28, 2012, 10:00am in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, David City with Pastor Mark Schutt officiating. Burial in the David City Cemetery with graveside military honors by Kregger Legion Post 125/VFW Post 5814 of David City.
Viewing will be Friday, 4-7pm at Chermok Funeral Home and Saturday, 9-10am at the church.

Earl C. Zeilinger was born on November 16, 1920 to George R. and Rena(Alma)Zeilinger at David City. He farmed in the area all of his life. He attended UNL for two years and completed the Farm Op Program. During WWII, he was in the Navy and stationed in the South Pacific, serving on the USS Gilbert Islands.
Earl married Fern Gibson in 1947. After Fern passed away in 1957, Earl married Florence Garman on April 5, 1959 at Beatrice, Nebraska. Three daughters were born to this union. He loved to attend David City High School sporting events, and served on the David City Public School Board in the 1970's. He was also involved in 4-H and received many awards including the W. G Skelly Award for superior achievement in agriculture. Earl served on the Butler County Fair Board from 1953-1957. He also enjoyed UNL Volleyball games, trapshooting, hunting and bowling, where he once bowled a 300. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Earl is survived by his daughters: Teresa(Steven)Hultquist of Elkhorn; Julie(Bill)Hill of Cheyenne, Wy: and Sherry(Steven)Albracht of Papillion; two brothers: Eugene(Orletha)Zeilinger of Bellwood and Keith(Peggy)Zeilinger of Hawaii; two sisters: Lucille Aldrich of David City and Susan(Rex) Lynd of Colorado; sisters-in-law: Opal Zeilinger and Margaret Zeilinger both of David City; 8 grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, first wife: Fern and second wife, Florence in 1991, and two brothers, Vern and Donald.
