Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Mae Parr, age 79 of Dodge, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 2:30 PM to 7 PM with rosary being recited at 3 PM and 7 PM. Visitation on Thursday will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Dodge.
Dorothy was the youngest of four children born August 27, 1936 in Dodge County, NE to George and Mary (Brousek) Petersen. She attended rural grade school in Dodge County. Her high school years were split due some redistricting, her freshman year she attended North Bend, her sophomore year she attended Dodge and her last two years she attended North Bend, graduating in 1953. On December 29, 1955 Dorothy and Lambert Parr were joined in matrimony at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Clyde. They farmed west of Dodge and Dorothy raised chickens and helped Lambert with the livestock. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, Bingo and watching NFL games (she was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan). She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and the Altar Society. Dorothy died April 15, 2016 at Parkview Home in Dodge where she had been a resident since July of 2012.
Dorothy is survived by her son, David Parr of Dodge; sisters-in-law ,Dorothy Petersen and Ella Petersen both of North Bend.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lambert (July 4, 2004); sister, Dolores Cech; brothers Leo and Orville Petersen.
Family suggest memorials to Christian Mothers or St. Wenceslaus Altar Society.
Funeral lunch will be served in the church basement.
