Dorothy A. Bartunek, 78, of Bruno, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:00am, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Abie, with Fr. Ron Homes as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be Tuesday, from 4-7pm followed by a 7pm parish rosary all at the church. Viewing will continue Wed. from 9-10am at the church.

Dorothy (Novacek)Bartunek, was born on April 18, 1934 to Frank and Margaret(Bruner)Novacek. She attended District 86 grade school in Bruno and graduated from David City High School in 1952. During her senior year in high school, She started part-time at First National Bank in David City and continued working until her marriage to Bernard"Beno" Bartunek on October 23, 1954 at St. Anthony's Church in Bruno. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Dorothy then began working side by side with Beno on the farm; feeding cattle and hogs, driving the tractor during bailing season, hauling grain to town in the grain truck during harvest, which was her favorite part of farming.
Dorothy was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Abie where she was also a member of the Altar Society and choir. She loved gardening and grew a large, beautiful flower garden every year. She also enjoyed crafts, polka music and dancing. She and Beno attended many polka festivals throughout the Midwest where they made several lifelong friends.
Dorothy will be most remembered for her love of laughter, her knack for pulling pranks and teasing and also for her wonderful horn rolls, kolaches, rosettes and brewed sweet tea.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Beno, two sons: Terry(Linda)Bartunek and Bruce(Jeanie)Bartunek both of Bruno, four grandchildren: Mitchell Bartunek of David City, Demi Bartunek of Fremont, Jessica Bartunek of Lincoln and Jacob Bartunek of Fremont. Four step-granddaughters: Stephanie Crook of Duncan, Janice(Grant)Swenson of San Antonio, TX , Heather Crook of Salina, KS. and Shelia Crook of Valparaiso; one great-granddaughter, Amaure' Bartunek-Granger of Lincoln, two brothers: Victor(LaVerne)Novacek of Bruno and Leonard Novacek of Brainard. brothers-in-law: Eugene(Sally)Bartunek of David City and Dennis Bartunek of Lincoln. Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws: Vasclav and Tillie Bartunek and her sister-in-law: Elsie Novacek.
