Donna Rae Allen

Donna Rae Allen, 81, of David City, passed away on December 21, 2016 at David Place in David City.

Donna was born at home in David City to Fenton Aldridge Scribner and Edith Pearl (Kilgore) Scribner on May 27, 1935. She attended school at David City Public School, and later attended classes at Central Community College Platte Campus.

Donna married her high school sweetheart James LaVern Allen on June 14, 1953 in David City at Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church. Six sons and two daughters were born to this union.

She worked as a school bus driver for David City Public Schools for 40 years, and was the secretary for Saint Luke’s and Bellwood United Methodist Churches for 29 years. She was also a life time member of the Methodist Churches, singing in the choir and playing piano and organ for both congregations, and was a part of the United Methodist Women. She was involved in David City Bowling leagues, Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters, was a member of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Committee, a 4-H leader, member of the 4-H council, Flower Department superintendent for the Butler County Fair, was a David City Booster Club Member, and involved in the DC Alumni Association. In 2010, Donna and her family were awarded the AKSARBEN Farm Family Award. Donna was passionate about family, friendships, gardening, genealogy, music, and had a special place in her heart for animals.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents and step-mother Mary “Marie” (Thiem) Dostal Scribner, her husband, daughter-in-law Tami Allen, sisters-in-law Dorothy (Allen) Duckworth, and Barbara “Bobbie” (Rayburn) Allen.

Donna is survived by her children Jerry (Laura) Allen of Juniata, NE, Wayne Allen of David City, NE, Kenneth Allen of Lincoln, NE, Daniel (Brenda) Allen of Omaha, NE, Frank (Audrey) Allen of Katy, TX, Janet (Mark) Trofholz of Bellwood, NE, Darrell (Heather) Allen of David City, NE, and Sharon Allen of Omaha, NE, 16 grandchildren Ben (Destiny) Allen, Sarah Allen, Martin (Rochelle) Allen, Brice (Tiffany) Allen, Scott Busing, Mark Busing, Shelby Allen, Riley Allen, Ben Cox, Christina Brown, Brady Allen, Eric (Kasey) Allen, Sara (Jordan) Remm, Travis (Amanda) Trofholz, Spencer Allen and Stanley Allen, 13 great grandchildren, sister Carole (Ron) Vogeltanz of Maricopa, AZ, brother Dave Scribner of David City, brothers-in-law Harold Allen of Lincoln, NE, and Ed Duckworth of Lincoln, NE, step sisters Darlene Christensen, Diane Reichert, Carol Ruskamp, and Donna Baker, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ben Allen, Martin Allen, Brice Allen, Scott Busing, Mark Busing, Ben Cox, Brady Allen, Eric Allen, Travis Trofholz, Spencer Allen, and Stanley Allen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sarah Allen, Shelby Allen, Riley Allen, Christina Brown, and Sara Remm.

Memorials may be given to family’s choice.
A lunch will follow the funeral services.
