Donald Wondercheck

Donald Wondercheck, 81, of David City, died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at David Place in David City.
Funeral Service for Don will be held on Tuesday, Ocotber 7, 2008 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in David City. Burial will be in the David City City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Monday at Chermok Funeral Home in David City and one hour before services on Tuesday at the Church. Donald was born on April 3, 1927 in Atkinson, NE to John and Ethel (Karr) Wondercheck. He graduated from Atkinson High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946.
On April 18, 1948, Donald married Elinor Onnen in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rising City, NE. Don worked for over 40 years for the Rural Electric Association, serving as Operations Manager.
Don was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, served on the David City City Council and was a member of the David City Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, where he also served as Fire Chief.
Don is survived by sons: Wayne (Diane "Annie") Wondercheck of Malcolm, Warren (Dana) Wondercheck of Waverly; grandchildren: Jeff (Mindy)Wondercheck, Todd Wondercheck, Wes Wondercheck, Wade Wondercheck, Wyley Wondercheck; great grandchildren: Reagan Wondercheck and Riley Ward; sisters: Loretta Kearney of David City, Marjorie Vanis of Rising City, Jeannie Hein of David City, Anna Mae Sprague of Grand Island, Donna Rae Disterhaupt of Brainard, MN, Joann Disterhaupt of Farmington, MN and Lavern Sicheneder of O'Neill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elinor in 1995 and brother Harold.
