Funeral service for Donald R. Thege, age 78 of Schuyler, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel from 5 PM to 8 PM. Visitation on Friday will begin at 9:30 AM at the church. Burial will be in the Schuyler Cemetery. Don died October 13th at their home in Schuyler.
Don was born October 16, 1937 in North Bend, NE to George and Rose (Houfek) Thege. He attended District #78 near Linwood and graduated from Linwood High School in 1956. He married Alyce Chapek August 7, 1965.
Don worked various jobs including Pokorny Oil, Higgins Milling, Schuyler Sun and QC Supply all in Schuyler. He was a member of the first Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder and he sang in the choir.
Don loved to be with his family and attended his grandchildren’s many sporting events, which he rarely missed. He enjoyed eating his Werthers candy and singing.
Don is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alyce, of Schuyler; six children,Todd (Karen) of Seward Tim (Patty) of Columbus, Kristi of Columbus, Dean (Jen) of Columbus, Chad (Darcy) of David City, Denise (Bill) Hartman of St. Petersburg, FL; 13 grandchildren, Kayla, Erin, Nathan, Hillary, Alyssa, Olivya, BreAnne, Ethen, Caden, Macey, Caleb, Jarin and Gavin: brother, Richard Thege of North Bend; three sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Thege of Norfolk, Marlene Thege of North Bend and Pauline Thege of David City.
He is preceded in death by three brothers, George Jr., Clarence and Raynold
